Corporation Multi-purpose room at La Granja
Draft SIELFELD & Vergara Architects is located in a eucalyptus forest of 26 hectares (area east of the National Botanic Garden of Chile) that there are other adjacent buildings (greenhouse management and workshops) of the Corporation The Farm, whose function is charitable social work training for young people with intellectual disabilities. The commissioning of a multipurpose hall arose from the need to establish a meeting place within the educational complex whose architecture should also encourage relationship with nature, both for the disabled, and the entire corporate community. With contributions from the Bank of Hong Kong, the Company Verein "Vamos" and other benefactors, we could finally realize a proposal that met the requirements set.
The relationship with the landscape is one of the primary requirements of the project, since the encounter with nature is a mechanism that encourages the social integration of young people with intellectual disabilities.
Complex "The Farm" features the area of \u200b\u200bforest areas for cultivation, animal zone, games and use buildings with shops, dining and services, corresponding to a small-scale urban development as a villa. The adjoining wooden buildings are poor and built with traditional techniques. The new building incorporates the cultural landscape and reinterprets traditional methods of wood construction, not only to be consistent with the architecture of the place, but that can be built at a low price with the available manpower.
The volume takes a position in the field on a structured platform in retaining walls of reinforced concrete. The basic material of the structure is pine wood and with it is resolved both partitions, as the entire roof structure through lattice-bearing beams that are visible. All elements of connection between different pieces of wood are galvanized steel.
exterior coatings are met with an impregnated pine siding and interior finish, with slabs of raw and other clusters of low-priced, all terminated in the light, achieving a sustainable building and septic that through adequate treatment of wood exposed honestly its austere building materials, radiating warmth.
The environmental conditioning systems by generating cross ventilation and passive systems for ventilation of the building components such as roofs and walls, leading to a building "alive", made from biodegradable materials, able to breathe and stay on time.
